Dyed wool
I dyed some wool last week. Method: cling film and a steam cooker.
This is Finnish wool, a mix of Finnsheep and Finnsheep/Texel cross. Soft and not very long, just above 7 cm which is what’s required for commercial tops. It behaves a bit like Merino: gets bigger and bigger while drying because of great amount of crimp.
I’ll spin two braids during TdF.
Looks like you had fun dyeing – nice bright colors. And what a great steamer. Haven’t seen one like that. I hope you will share a photo of your yarns after spinning some of it up.
Yes, it was fun! But I won’t spin all the tops myself. I’ll take some of them to events and spinning classes. I’ll show the TdF spinning, of course.
Wow, I’ll say you did some dyeing !! LOVE the yellows and oranges. Neat steamer……very clever.
I read about steam cookers in a forum on Ravelry some years ago. Had to try, and it proved to be a method that suits me.
Vilken bra ide och så fina färger ❤️
Tack!
Gorgeous colors!! What type of dyes did you use? I do love the dye, wrap and steam process!!
Thanks! I used Ashford and Eurolana acid dyes.
